You are one of my favorite things...uhh... people! WHAT A WONDERFUL POST!!!!! My computer has been down so I just now found it. I loved all of it. I loved seeing your wedding pictures. You looked as pretty as your daisies did. I also loved seeing all the pictures of your special trip. I too love the Sound of Music. I never tire of watching it and hearing the music.
Good luck with the wedding dress shopping. That is a special... but a bit stressful time. I am sure that she will find just the perfect dress and look like an angel in it. I bet Lili will make a darling flower girl.

I too love The Sound of Music, my wedding bouquet was also daisies (not the most popular thing then), and Joy and I got an I-pad for Christmas to share. We are loving it!

Love your photos. Looks like some great road trips. It is so nice to reflect on our favorite things and how we even may change them as the years go by. Hi Linda: I hardly know what to write for a comment. Reading your posts is like reading a wonderful book with great pictures, interesting information and a little history. What more could we want! I, too love daisies and seeing more of the U.S. Hopefully will get up to your part of the country (again) later this year as I do love it there. Going to search for the Dalai Lama's 20 life lessons and try to figure out how to get a copy of the article regarding "Women and friends" from Stanford. {{HUGS}} Joy

Loved your post and learning more about you. The pictures of your foilage are spectacular!!! I have been up in the NP but not since I was 13 years old and that age I didn't appreciate like I would today so it was great to see your pictures and that long bridge we crossed it!!!
My mom showed me the sound of music and it's a favorite of mine can't wait to share it with my daugther when she's a bit older. Wishing you a blessed 2012 & I always look forward to your post's!!!

THANK YOU for the trip down Memory Lane to the UP! I grew up there in the Northwoods, and went to high school in the little town of Newberry. As a teenager, we had to go clear to Sault Ste. Marie in Drivers Ed to be able to practice at a red-yellow-green traffic light! (Newberry has one now.) Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos!

Good Sunday morning my friend. Of course, I loved your post. Isn't the UP just beautiful? I've been to most of those places and want to go back, maybe this summer. I'm proud of our Michigan, but my dream trip is out your way to see New England - that's on my bucket list. As for girlfriends, nothing better! Thank goodness for e-mail, cell phones and blogs. What adorable pictures of your wedding! I had daisy china in 1969, now it has been passed to my daughter Ashley. I also remember going to see The Sound Of Music at our little Holly theatre (that is no longer there) and listening to the album over and over. I even bought the piano music when I was a teenager and I still have it. You take care and enjoy your peaceful Sunday (another favorite thing). Dawn

This post was WONDERFUL! I loved hearing about some of your fav things and I know that this year will bring at least one more favorite thing for you and your family, Jen and Jonathan's wedding. It will be a busy but fun time for all of you. Thanks for taking us along on that wonderful road trip with all of that glorious foliage! The US sure does have some awesome places to visit.

Happy New Year to you to Linda! Another beautiful post. I sincerely enjoyed you sharing your "other" favorite things and the wonderful photos of your adventures. I have to tell you though our wedding photos are very similar!!! The hats, the daisys with very few baby roses and one year later. Only difference instead of the soft green we had "baby" blue. My bridesmaids dresses even had daisy print!
Guess we had good taste! LOL

I am a true Michigan girl and I don't think it gets much better than the U.P. or Northern Michigan. I have been to all the places you described and it truely is god's country. I too especially love the train tour through Canada. If you ever get the opportunity to come back, you must spent time on Mackinac Island. It's a 20 minute fairy ride from Mackinaw City and you would love it!

Linda I kept wanting to say..."me too!" :) I love my I Pad and spend way too much time on it. I love, love, love chai tea lattes and have discovered a new one that's just as good: The Good Earth decaf Sweet and Spicy Tea. I found it at he organic/natural food store here and it's scrumptious. I add a little Splenda and a little skim milk to mine. And the girlfriend - I'm very careful to keep those relationships going. I have 5 high school girlfriends who come to my house one weekend each fall and it's waaaay fun. And I belong to a monthly stitching group - there are 8 of us who have lunch in each other's homes and then stitch the afternoon away. Plus my neighbor friends, my church friends, and my mission friends are necessary to my mental health. :) But the most important girlfriends are my two daughters and my daughter-in-law. I loved your pictures of your trip. My favorite trip of all (in the U.S.) was a fall trip to your neck of the woods! I loved your post. Can you tell? :) blessings, marlene
