I have a fun job working in a salon only across the street from where the tornado touched touched down in Springfield....luckily the woman were all safe Wednesday as they saw it heading towards them, it took a turn & missed the salon ,but just a block away is complete devasation. The salon was open on Friday & we heard so many sad stories, but luckily none of our clients were hurt. It was heart warming to see all the power companies from so many states and The National Guard there to help...It is amazing there weren't more deaths....it will take a long time for some to recover...we will pay more attention to those warnings from now on. It is just so sad to see homes wiped off their foundations & see the sadness in people's eyes.

So glad you are okay. I have been through a tornado and as with you I live in an area(northwest Pennsylvania) that really doesn't experience that often....although anymore it seems as if the weather is changing? You just have to remember to be respectful & mindfull of the weather....it CAN happen. My heart felt prayers to all those yet again affected ~Kriss~

Linda..So glad you are fine but sad to hear about the damage in your area..I have an aunt who lives in Cheshire but who had lived in Mansfield many years ago..We had a few scares here in our area 9 days ago..The weather is so unpredictable and scary and you are at it's mercy..We definetly have had so many scary situations across the US..Praying for your area and everyone affected by these storms..

As you said we do not expect tormados here. I was in Springfield 1 hour before and paid little attention to the darkening skies and hail. I did change my mind last minute about picking up my ordered shoes or I would have been there at the wrong time. Electricity is still out in places and many people are displaced. Animals are coming into local shelters that have lost their way and homes from the storm. Sadly many do not have microchips or tags and may never find their families.

Linda I'm so glad you posted to let us know you were ok and I'm thrilled that your family and home were bypassed when this storm made it's way through your area. Tornadoes are devastating...recovery is not only hearbreaking but long and tedious and frustrating. Hi Linda,
we are in Palmer a few minutes from Monson. We were fortunate here some strong winds and hail but family and friends are all safe. Thanks God! My youngest daughters in-laws have a business on Main St. Monson, they have lost their roof. We havn't gone into Monson as they have asked people not to due to the clean up but my daughter has a couple of friends that lost their homes. It surely was a scary storm, my daughter was hunkered down in her basement with my three grandchildern it was all too scary, but I do believe we had angels watching over us I too am thankfull, for all the emergency crews out there.

Linda, I am so very thankful that you and yours are just fine. It is a terrible thing, what has happened over the last several weeks and all the tornadoes. Though we have them in our area from time to time, it has never been like that.....our culprit is often hurricanes. My heart leapt for joy when I say you had posted safe news and I continue to pray for those affected. ~~ Beth

My daughter doesn't have a TV (they just use Netflix for movies and get their news online).

When I heard about the tornadoes here on the Weather Channel, I texted her and asked if she knew a tornado had just touched down near her. She knew it was storming but had no idea it was that bad.

She got the kids to the basement and then stayed on the cell phone with her husband, who was driving on the Interstate in the storms. He finally decided to get off in Auburn to his parent's house until it was safer to drive the rest of the way home.

She said with all the tornado warnings we have in and around our home, she has to move to New England to get damage close to her!

So glad you are all okay, too. Oh... one of the happiest days of my life was spent with my daughter at the Brimfield flea market a few years ago. :)

My heart goes out to you, your friends and family. Tornadoes are so scary. With living in Nebraska we are so used to these, but are never totally prepared for them!!
Please know that we will keep you and yours in our prayers.

After reading your blog today, I just want to say Thanks be to God for saving you and your family...tornadoes are terrible and living in Nebraska we deal with this alot, but you are never totally prepared for them. I sure hope that everyone there tries to stay strong and stick together and you will be so grateful for all the help each other gives...
Thanks for taking the time to write about it, sometimes it does help.

Oh My Linda - so glad to hear that your family is OK. I was busy all day yesterday and into the evening so never even watched the news and was unaware of what was happening in your neck of the woods. Tornado's unfortunately are a common thing in our area - and something we are aware of every summer - the devastation they make can knock you to your knees - and it's always amazing at what is left standing so close by. I will keep your area in my thoughts as they deal with their losses.

I am so happy to hear that you and your family are safe. Every time I see pictures of the aftermath of these terrible storms, I am shocked and amazed at the magnitude of the damage. All we can do is pray for the people affected and hope that their lives will get back to normal soon.

I know that I sure have become more aware of the storm threats this year.
Mother Nature is sure crankie this yr.
We had a lot of tornado watches again in this area.
I too, am so thankful that God has gotten through each storm safe.

Linda, I live in Westfiedl, just a couple streets away from a very hard hit area, very hard to understand how so much damage can happen in one place and nothing streets away. Very scary storm yesterday, in our area storms like that are rare, I think we just don't take it seriously when they put out the warnings, we sure will now. Dianne
