Thank you for all the kind and heartfelt comments on my last post. I know so many of you are also having some tough days with illness – yours or your loved one, loss of jobs or homes or many other stressful situations.

Sometimes we wonder, 'What did I do to deserve this?' or 'Why did God have to do this to me?' Here is a wonderful explanation I received in an email recently.

“A daughter is telling her Mother how everything is going wrong ~,she's failing algebra, her boyfriend broke up with her and her best friend is moving away.

Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and asks her daughter if she would like a snack, and the daughter says, 'Absolutely Mom, I love your cake.'

'Here, have some cooking oil,' her Mother offers. 'Yuck' says her daughter. 'How about a couple raw eggs?' 'Gross, Mom!' 'Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?' 'Mom, those are all yucky!'

To which the mother replies:'Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake! '

God works the same way. Many times we wonder why He would let us go through such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful!

God is crazy about you.He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning. Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen. He can live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart.”

So no matter what you are going through right now, I hope your day is a piece of cake.

Today I am thankful for:

The clear blue sky and brilliant sun outside my window.

Mr. Red Door’s first round of golf in this new season.

The hard working crew that picks up our trash and recycle each week.

The UPS, Fed EX an USPS workers who deliver my mail and packages in all kinds of weather.

All of you for coming by and making this part of your day!

Until next time ~ warm hugs, Linda

Hi Linda

Such well spoken words. My son is going through a real rough time right now and I try to find words to comfort him but he is so down sometimes I wonder if anything will help. He knows to trust the Lord and all but when you are in that situation, your patience runs thin. I have been there myself and it is a hard lesson to learn. Thanks for sharing that sweet reminder. Have a wonderful weekend. Hopefully we'll see some sun soon. Blessings and Hugs

Hi Linda,
I am now convinced you are some kind of messenger! I found your blog at a low point in my life, taking care of 2 ailing parents, and it helped me through some very trying times. Now with only my 90+ year old Mom left, there are still very trying times and today was one! I kept asking, "Why???" and here I just sat down to relax and found your entry. It was sent at the right time and I thank you tenfold.
You are a joy.
Happy Spring,
Joanne

Good morning my friend. What a wonderful post to wake up to. We all have so many things on our plate right now, but there is a reason for that - even though we may not know what it is quite yet. BUT - we also have so many wonderful things to be thankful for, I'm so glad your blog is filled with your thankful thoughts. BTW, my open house was SOOO much fun! Wish you could have been here. The guy that did our music was wonderful and people stuck around quite awhile eating their lunch and listening to music. Wish we could do it all over again! Have a great Sunday, Dawn

Hi Linda,
What a sweet story about the Mama making a cake and talking to her daughter.
Today it is raining and COLD. Nothing like our usual beginning of spring! But I am loving it! Just finished my second and final coat on my end table, and will be meeting my brother and his family for an early dinner tonight! Life is goooood!!!

Hi Linda, what a great post. I do believe that god only gives us what he knows we can handle, although at times we wonder why he would put us through such hurt and suffering. We are all dealt a different hand of cards and getting through the deck is god's way of teaching us to be stronger humans!!!
I am so excited about the giveaway it's my first!! And lucky me my name was able to be put in there twice!!! Keeping my fingers crossed!!
Hoping your having a great week!!! And hoping all your snow is gone and you can start fresh on Friday with a new snow free month!!!

Hugs!
